White girls pretty much use black people used them as sexual tools, and had other white boyfriends for there status. They went after them because it was exciting and forbidden. Where as black men used white women as a social status. They were more respected as well.

  1. Yes - this is an interesting Theme in this book: status due to color or connection to lighter color, and the taboos of interracial relations (though the relations isn't really on equal terms and mostly exists on a physical plane).
