This, just like Henry David Thoreau who said if you believe in something you better make a change, or else you are just like the people whom you despise. You have to make noise, or else nothing is going to change. He wanted equal rights with everyone no matter what your race. So early he knew that he had to make a change or maybe now racism would still be a huge problem in our nation.
